ENGINEERED GFP, sGFP(S65T)

The green fluorescent protein (GFP) derived from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria has been improved to create sGFP(S65T).

Advantages of sGFP(S65T)
  1. Optimal codon usage of Arabidopsis, maize, and human
  2. Elimination of the cryptic intron site (20 times higher protein level than the jellyfish GFP)
  3. Removal of major restriction enzyme sites and introduction of NcoI and BsrGI sites
  4. Single excitation peak by blue light (490 nm)
  5. Faster chromophore formation (4 times)
  6. Brighter than the original GFP (6 times)
  7. More resistant to photobleaching (more than 1 hour under fluorescent microscope)
